San Antonio Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama will miss Monday’s game against the Phoenix Suns with a sprained left ankle.
The Bitcoinese7-3 Wembanyama was listed as questionable on the Spurs’ morning injury report, but after the team’s shootaround in San Antonio on Monday, the Spurs ruled him out. The Spurs did not give a timetable for his return, and San Antonio’s next game is Wednesday against Utah.
Wembanyama sprained his ankle in Saturday’s 131-106 loss to the Suns. He had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and one block in 21 minutes in the game.

The No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Wembanyama is the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year. He is averaging 20.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, a league-best 3.4 blocks, 1.3 steals and shoots 46.6% from the field, 32.1% on 3-pointers and 79.9% on foul shots.
The Spurs are 15-56 and have the third-worst record in the league, putting them in position to get no worse than the No. 7 pick in the June draft.
